This entry is all about the music I've been listening to lately... It's a mix of Kpop and American Pop. Some are old and some are new, but these are the songs that I can't seem to get enough of...
"Can't Nobody" by 2NE1 ... yup. There's not much to say about this one, I just find the song insanely catchy. Did you know that there's an English version of this song? well, good luck to them when they make their American debut.
"Insomnia" by Wheesung... cover of "Insomnia" by Craig David. This song is actually a little dated but when I first heard it, I listened to it on repeat 13143254234 times. I've heard both versions of this song and I've gotta admit that I enjoy Wheesung's version more than Craig David's original. The reason is that Wheesung's version emphasizes a heavier bass beat which makes it more... dancey? ... is that a word? anyways, this is a cool song.
"Beautiful Monster" by Ne-Yo. I really enjoyed his latest album "Libra Scale" but this track really stands out from the rest. It is the biggest single from that album and there's good reason. I love the beat and the melody is quite entrancing... The video is pretty sick as well. Ne-Yo as drunken master and dance fighting some Asian guys? Cool.
"Knock Out" by GD and T.O.P. One of the latest tracks to come from the hip-hop duo. I like everything about this song and video... I want a pair of "Beats by Dr.Dre" headphones... too bad they cost a bazillion dollars :(
"I need a girl" by Tae Yang. Tae Yang is no doubt my favorite pop artist. His solo album "Solar" is pretty amazing.
"Just the way you are" by Bruno Mars. If you're in Los Angeles, I'm sure this song has gained repeat status on Kiss FM and you're probably sick of hearing it... or maybe not. But this song is brilliant. I love how simple yet meaningful the lyrics are. Bruno Mars definitely has a keen sense of melody.
And my Favorite pop song is......
"I'll be there" by Tae Yang. First off, I think the song is amazing. But this video is what really makes the song stand out to me. I don't know who directed the video but the set pieces, choreography, editing, lighting, and cinematography are all excellent. The video is kind of like a mesh of Michael Jackson meets the Adams Family meets German Expressionism meets Tim Burton meets... Tae Yang... yeah i know it doesn't make much sense but who cares, this guy can dance.
